False Information Interferes with Healthcare and Disease Management in the US

Anthony Fauci, President Joe Biden’s chief medical advisor, stated that the Disease now considered to be historical such as smallpox, and polio would have continued to spread in the United States if today’s scenario of false information prevailed then.

Currently, Disease such as smallpox and polio have been almost completely eradicated all across the world. However, this range of accomplishment would have probably been impossible if the now prevailing amount of resistance towards getting vaccinated would have existed then.

The country is on the verge of vanishing the existence of polio, the accountability for which substantially goes to the willingness of the public to get vaccinated, and if that hadn’t been there, polio would have still been a critical concern for America, according to Fauci. The presence of easily spreading false information has emerged to be of greatest concern which was highlighted by Surgeon General Vivek Murthy as he published an advisory Thursday last week stressing upon the health misinformation to be an urgent threat.

The advisory urgently appealed to technology and social media organizations to focus their efforts to encounter the release of misinformation on their platforms. It asks them to modify and redesign algorithms in a way that restricts the expansion of misinformation whilst strengthening monitoring. Murthy’s persistent efforts are aligned with the increasing COVID-19 concerns with new delta variants spreading across the United States. The country has particularly witnessed a massive bubble of negativity surrounding the vaccine, ultimately declining the vaccination rate.
